MINUTES OF LLANGWM COMMUNITY COUNCIL

MONDAY 6 JANUARY 2014 AT THE PARISH HALL, LLANGWM

COUNCILLORS PRESENT: Cllr Peter Gough (Chair), Cllr. Lyn Bennett, Cllr David Williams, Cllr. Colin Evans, Cllr Gwyn Rowlands, Cllr Mike Foster, Cllr. Bob Trigg

1) To discuss and agree the Council’s response to the draft proposals arising from the Review of Communities and Electoral Arrangements

Cllr Gough described the draft proposals arising from the Review of Communities and Electoral Arrangements. These include the amalgamation of Llangwm Community Council (Llangwm and Llansoy) with Llantrisant Community Council (Llantrisant and Gwernesney). The proposed new council would be called Llantrisant Fawr. Llangwm would have 3 councillors (reduced from 5) and Llansoy would have 1 councillor (reduced from 2). The review period for the proposals closes on 28^th February 2014.

Following discussion it was unanimously agreed that LCC would object to the proposals. The following actions were agreed:

1.1 PG to advise MCC that a number of LCC councillors would be attending the public meeting to discuss the proposals to be held at County Hall, Usk on Tue 21^st Jan.

1.2 LB to forward the agreed text of an e-mail addressed to local electors, advising them of the proposals, to CE for distribution to the village e-mail list. Llansoy councillors to determine the best way to disseminate the information in Llansoy.

1.3 LB to forward the draft text of the LCC response to the proposals to all councillors for review and comment. LB to revise the draft to incorporate comments from councillors, so that a final version can be agreed at the next meeting on Mon 20^th Jan.
